Cllr Merry’s Agent admits the truth…

Then again, I may be imagining it. Such is life as a delusional fantasist clinging hopelessly to outdated paradigms!

A quote from Tom Murphy, Cllr Merry,s election agent.Sourced from Cllr Cookes Blog. Well Tom the truths finally out.I bet you feel better for it.

God someone in the Labour PARTY as a Brian!

I was concerned to see alleged proposals to weaken tenant’s security of tenure and put pressure on those not on low wages to move out. This risks turning council housing into the short of “welfare” housing we’ve always as a party rejected and also goes against that valuable New Labour tenet – don’t cut peoples aspirations. It also goes straight against our proposed aim of building mixed communities.

The answer to our council housing shortage isn’t to re-shuffle a patch which is too small, it’s to build more council houses to meet the proven housing needs.

No 2 ID

In general I think ID cards are a waste of resources which could be better used in tackling crime in different ways i.e. employ more police, more money for community schemes etc. I worry particularly about any requirements to show ID cards and costs of replacement. Most people lose things like this occasionally and then you run the risk of alienating citizens from the state. The main drive for the scheme seems to be the security industry, not any real demand from the public.

Housing why did we stop building Social Housing.

Remember not so long ago it was a stigma to live in a council House? we had one for over twenty years can’t say it did me any harm. Sad thing is now in Salford we have 18,000 on waiting lists and not enough housing to go round. We need to look into housing not flats. Salford is riddled with flats no body wants. Our planners seem to lack any idea of what people need. And this government don’t build. why? Quedgeley1

Cant say i am against fast food in moderation but the bloody mess it leaves behind.

Calculating the cost of War.

Take out the shameless waste of British and American service personal in a war in which i feel we have no part. The loss of civilian life ,men ,women and children. I took an approach to bean counting. It was a statement i read about the 50calibre machine gun and the rounds it uses,it seems we had problems of jamming ,why because we were using ammunition purchased from of all places Pakistan. Why because it was only 50p per round. Being simplistic think how many 50P we fire every day. Sit and think what is the real cost, what if that money was put into schools, hospitals, pensions people could live on.Well call me if you will but my family have served with the British Army one of the best forces in the world. But i take the view we are a small professional force, stretched to breaking point. Use it wisely new labour it can only go so far.
