A shotgun was fired at a house in Swinton.

Shortly after 11pm on Friday 29 May 2009, police were called to a house on Bancroft Road, following a report of men trying to break in.

Officers attended the scene and found that the front door of the house had been shot at.

Shotgun cartridges were recovered from the scene.

Nobody was injured in the incident, but police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The two offenders are described as being white men, around 18-years-old. They were wearing dark hooded tops.

Don’t need this in Swinton i hope the police find the culprits..

Found this on DAVID Ottewells Blog

    Norman Owen, prophet of doom

David Cameron has just said Bill Cash has some ‘very serious questions’ to answer over claiming more than £15,000 to pay the rent on his daughter’s Notting Hill flat.

    I’ll say.

At the time Mr Cash was apparently living in the flat – even though he owned another property, closer to Westminster – daughter Laetitia was on the campaign trail in Salford, where she was challenging Hazel Blears.

    She lost.

Here’s a picture from the count:

Look closely at Norman Owen in the middle, staring into the future. It’s as if he knew what was going to happen to the women on his left and right…

    Child sex offenders avoid prison

Six convicted child rapists were not imprisoned in 2007, according to statistics from the Ministry of Justice. [29 May 2009]

Two paedophiles were given suspended sentences for sex attacks on children aged under 13. A further four offenders were given community sentences. There are concerns that judges are being pressurised into not jailing offenders because of overcrowding.

    Life imprisonment for rape

The maximum jail term for anyone found guilty of rape or attempted rape is life imprisonment. Sentencing guidelines also suggest that attackers who are older than their victims should receive substantial prison terms. A non-custodial sentence should only be handed out in “exceptional” circumstances if the offender is a youth. In all of these cases, offenders were aged over 21 and their victims under 13.

Comment overcrowding in prison? this sort of crime is beyond belief. What have we become when people can escape punishment. Liberal yes but this form of behavior is all to common. I have just had the blessing of a grandaughter and my concerns is lasting long enough on the earth to see her grow and enjoy life. These people should suffer the maximum punishment our system allows us to administer. Or  possible short term sentences of six months in a cell and inform the other inmates what he as done.
