Labour-supporting independents seem to be in denial about the Children’s Services inadequacy
I would like to ask the question are we playing politics? if not i would like to ask you in the key role of the official opposition on Salford council and being lucky enough to have members on Scrutiny panels what the hell have you or you party done over this issue.
Salford children’s services have slipped from one disaster to another. It takes little time to look back in the local archives to find the disaster of that young girl who died through in my opinion nothing more than gross neglect. The reality is if i was working in a private company and i performed my task on the same scale i would have been sacked long ago. Cllr Ferrer raised the issues along with my self and cllr Owen and Cllr Martin O’Neill, We may as well have just sat there as read a book.For what notice Labour took!
Sal fords Ruling Labour had the chance to rectify the position it failed to do so. In regards to other avenues we have scrutiny it is run by out of touch Labour chairs, dominated by Labour members and due to the set up of the Council as an independent member you can’t even get a place on a scrutiny where you could raise the issues. these places are taken by Labour and the Lib/cons. The opposition would have little chance to change Labour mind sets but perhaps if we had worked together and try to force issues we may have made some change but we failed every time.
And as voters we had the chance to rid the City and start afresh instead Cllr Merry will sit back and say i have a mandate to rule, my policies have been excepted by the city and more children are at risk,
So who do we blame? the man who lead the department, his officers.The Labour cabinet,the opposition,the voting public, or activist like me and you who should be getting are acts together to fight this bloody shambles who are failing our kids.All we seem to do is score points off each other, the day we come out and remember we are all on the same side we may win.
