Just looking at the comments by the Langworthy activist over putting in a petition at the next council over speeding motorist? I wonder will the leader of his group be putting forward the petition.

Points you all need to remember if you live in Salford
- Salford Council is run by New Labour
- The Leader is John Merry
- The opposition is made up of members From the Tory and Liberal Democrats.
- The Tories and the Liberal Democrats run the Country, well sort of in a fashion.
- They are putting forward dramatic cuts that will affect every one in the Country.
- Well not if you are a rich Tory or Lib/Dem which most are.
- The country as no money we are in debt, that’s unless you read sky news this Morning where Mrs Thatchers son is putting £67BN into Afghanistan.! (That’s Cameron to you and me.)
- The finances at Salford Council are not the best, what with unsupported borrowing and the amount of money owed would scare a banana republic.
- So Ask your self a Question do you think New Labour will use Cameron to cut services and blame the Lib/cons.
- Bet your bloody life they will

Spending cutbacks will hit city hard
The cuts come just weeks into a coalition government between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats
Remember who you voted for.
Well for five months a walked the streets putting the message through the door and no body took any notice. I think i can say told you so.

approaches the teller. He
can see from her nameplate
that her name is Patricia
Whack.
“Miss Whack, I’d like to get
a $30,000 loan to take a
holiday.”
Patty looks at the frog in
disbelief and asks his name.
The frog says his name is
Kermit Jagger, his dad is
Mick Jagger, and that it’s
okay, he knows the bank
manager.
Patty explains that he will
need to secure the loan with
some collateral.
The frog says, “Sure. I have
this,” and produces a tiny
porcelain elephant, about an
inch tall, bright pink and
perfectly formed.
Very confused, Patty explains
that she’ll have to consult
with the bank manager and
disappears into a back office.
She finds the manager and
says, “There’s a frog called
Kermit Jagger out there who
claims to know you and wants
to borrow $30,000, and he
wants to use this as
collateral.”
She holds up the tiny pink
elephant. “I mean, what in
the world is this?”
The bank manager looks back
at her and says.
“It’s a knickknack, Patty
Whack. Give the frog a loan,
His old man’s a Rolling
Stone.”

(You’re singing it, aren’t you?
Yeah, I know you are..)
Never take life too seriously!

Jobless ‘Could Reach Three Million’
Spending cuts will raise unemployment close to three million and “stall” any recovery in the jobs market, a new report warns.
Cameron: Extra £67bn To Tackle Taliban Bombs
How many good men have died in this needless conflict. We have a small very professional armed service, It should be given the best to perform it’s task. But should we be in Afghanistan? I honestly believe America under Bush became one of the most hated countries and we seem to be stuck in their coat tails. The day we sit back and think who we are and use the resources we have to protect this island instead of running around trying to flex our muscle and put good mens lives at risk the better for all of us. £67bn? for god sake we are cutting every thing we have from free school meals to education god knows what’s next and we put in another £67bn! what as this war cost all ready in body bags and financial hardship we are all starting to endure. We have in my opinion the son of Thatcher he cares less of the man on the street but would love to look good accross the pond.
First it’s free school meals and next Students..
Degree costs a burden on taxpayer, says David Willetts
The cost of degree courses is a “burden on the taxpayer” and the system of funding is in need of “radical change”, the universities minister has said.
David Willetts’ comments in the Guardian are being seen as his strongest hint yet that tuition fees in England could rise from £3,225 a year.
What about the rich tax dodgers? i don’t think that was in the Tory manifesto
Council bans white candidates from training programme
A council has banned white people from applying for an £18,000-a-year traineeship because it wants to boost staff diversity.
( And people wonder how groups like the BNP are growing?)
The two-year scheme at Bristol City Council is only open to candidates from black or ethnic minority backgrounds because the “normal recruitment process was not rectifying” under-representation.
The authority said the programme, which takes on two people a year, is lawful under race relations legislation because it is only a traineeship and does not guarantee a job at the end of it. But one white jobseeker, who did not want to be named, said it was “totally racist” and would have been “an excellent opportunity for me to make use of the skills and qualifications that I have acquired”.
He added: “But being white I am excluded from applying for the post.
“Surely equal opportunities means giving everyone an equal chance to succeed rather than discriminating against people because of the colour of their skin.”
The graduate training scheme is now in it’s third year and annually offers two candidates a two-year placement with the council and pays them £18,000 each a year.
The authority has a total of 9,000 members of staff of which 8,370 are white and 630, or seven per cent, are from ethnic minorities.
Because 12 per cent of Bristol residents come from minority backgrounds the council has begun searching for more employees to redress this imbalance.
Officials said the Race Relations Act 1976 allows for authorities to offer training to specific groups of people if they are under-represented.
In 2008, Avon and Somerset Fire Service was accused of discrimination by trying to ban white men from joining up.
They were condemned after barring white males from recruitment sessions in an attempt to boost ethnic minority and women applicants.
Four out of five open days to attract new recruits were strictly limited to either women, ethnic minorities or both.
The service insisted it had acted lawfully and was not being discriminatory because they did not involve selecting people for jobs.
In 2006 Avon and Somerset Police admitted that it had illegally rejected nearly 200 job applications from white men because of their race and sex.
Six months later, Gloucestershire Police was ordered to pay £2,500 to a man who was one of more than 100 white male applicants rejected in an unlawful attempt to boost ethnic and women recruits.
The Bristol council management trainee scheme is advertised on the council’s website, stating simply it is “Open to Black and minority ethnic graduates”.
Tory MP Philip Davies, who campaigns against political correctness, said: “It is an utter outrage and the council should be hanging its head in shame.
“They are pushing the boundaries of what the law was intended to do. They should be offering all positions to the best person and that should be open to everyone equally.
“It is the kind of political correctness that builds up resentment that would not otherwise exist.”
But Kerry McCarthy, a Labour MP in Bristol, said: “I would support schemes like this. It gives people an opportunity.”
James Easey, a spokesman for the council, said: “This is the third year of running the traineeship and it was started because of the marked under-representation of ethnic minority people in the council’s workforce.
“The normal recruitment process was not rectifying this unacceptably low trend so there was a strong case for this small positive recruitment traineeship for two ethnic minority graduates a year.
“We have a workforce of more than 9,000 employees, excluding school staff, so this is a small training programme.
“Graduates from any ethnic background are open to apply for the national graduate local government programme which we recruit from every year – we have just recruited two graduates in this way.”

When the Conservatives were Her Majesty’s Opposition at the start of the millenium, they would have us believe that Labour were squandering our finances and letting the financial sector turn into an un-checked nasty monster. Her Majesty’s Opposition was duty bound to hold the government of the day to account, and harrass and badger them to answer for their policies. Most of us will have little memory of the Opposition holding the government to account back then – they were navel gazing, reluctantly choosing bald leaders, and generally not being very clever.
Now they are in office, they have got over their baldness crisis, but they still haven’t got an idea to offer us. Thank goodness the public will have more than an idea or two to propel them forward for a year or two.
So YES, it is a good idea to let the public have a say, but let the professional politicians tell us what they think in detail too. They have said precious little thus far!
