You took Clegg and Cameron stuck them in a City West flat and gave then Job seekers allowance, but told them they had four weeks to get a job or their money will stop, i wonder if they would last.Like they say try walking a mile in my shoes.

I have to agree with the comments by Cllr Antrobus we cannot afford to play politics with the future of our planet where do we put our waste ,we must recycle we must create Green sustainable jobs,Cllr Lindley this time you are wrong.

Cllr Lindley threatens irresponsible campaigning!

Cllr Iain Lindley will be deciding whether or not to resign as Tory planning spokesman after most of his group either abstained or voted with Labour when he urged them to oppose the waste plan.

There are more compelling reasons for him to resign other than lacking the confidence of his group.
The waste plan recognises our duty in Greater Manchester to deal locally with the waste we produce and, as far as is technically possible, to stop burying it underground.

The plan encourages a shift to new technologies which allow us to use waste as a resource through recycling and turning it into renewable energy. These new ways of dealing with waste require developments that are virtually indistinguishable from the typical manufacturing industry found on industrial estates.Furthermore they bring with them new ‘green collar’ jobs which is a growing sector.
The plan also beefed up the controls on waste management facilities.

Cllr Lindley’s opposition to the green shift in waste management policy is a betrayal of future generations and would weaken the power of the Council to stop inappropriate development. For that alone he should resign.More seriously, he vowed to carry out a campaign to scare people about the possibility of the high tech. modern facilities going on to industrial estates.

This cynical attempt to manipulate people and create unnecessary fear for electoral reasons is the reason he should resign.
He did not fool his own party who rejected his views. The public should not be fooled by his immature and irresponsible campaigning.

Who’s head would you lay the body count on.

British soldiers in Iraq were “dying for no strategic benefit” because Tony Blair’s government did not appreciate what it was taking on when it planned the invasion, Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup, the chief of defence staff, has told MPs.

There was a “failure of strategic thinking” in southern Iraq, he told the Commons public administration committee. Stirrup, who retires next month, was asked if the politicians appreciated what they were taking on when British forces went into southern Iraq. He replied: “No.”

“We had people sitting in locations in Basra city unable to execute an aggressive military function but being shelled, resupply convoys on a daily basis being attacked, people dying for no strategic benefit, and no prospect of strategic benefit down this track,” Stirrup said.

He added: “The proposition was that freeing Iraq from Saddam Hussein and establishing proper democratic government would be a beacon for other countries throughout the region … It didn’t work. It was wrong. But that was the strategy.”

It always gets me this one Bob.i understand fully you points made at the meeting in Manchester but are you not a little late? When Blair came to power why was there no attempt to get rid of Thatcher s trade union laws then? Since 2007 unite as paid over £11 million of it’s members money to Labour, All i can see now is a Union that as had it’s Ba—s chopped off with little power except the ability to waste it’s mebers money.
