It’s a shame there was no Liberal Democrat presence,i think the officers outweighed the residents in the room. I only hope i have not sat for two hours in nothing more than a talking shop, some of these residents are suffering,i have every confidence Martin will take on the challenge as for others i think i have heard the same old story time and time again. People want facts and answers not idle promises.

Vince Cable: ‘Just cutting jobs is not sensible’
Just cutting jobs is not a sensible way to downside operations because a senior manager costs a lot more than a cleaner
Now i understand why he had such great respect, such words of wisdom. Perhaps he may wish to talk to all the people that will be losing their jobs.
Government seeking to demolish Royal Mail, says union
The Government was today accused of planning to “demolish” the Royal Mail ahead of the first debate in Parliament of its controversial privatisation plans.
The Postal Services Bill will receive its second reading tomorrow, giving MPs the first chance to question ministers about privatising the Royal Mail.
Postal workers from across the country will meet their MP in the Commons ahead of the debate and will explain why the Communication Workers Union will oppose the move.
Billy Hayes, the union’s general secretary, said: “The Government has left many questions unanswered and scrutiny of their Bill shows they are making empty promises while setting up to demolish the mail through the back door.

SALFORD GPS PRESSURED TO CLOSE HOPE MATERNITY UNIT |
|
Star date: 26th October 2010 A Salford Star Exclusive SALFORD DOCTORS `PRESSURED’ INTO HOPE MATERNITY CLOSURE Salford’s doctors have been `pressured’ into backing the closure of Hope Maternity Unit, according to a letter from the Salford Maternity Forum to Government Health Minister Andrew Lansley. The letter, seen by the Salford Star, adds that the decision to close Hope’s birth unit has been made by Salford’s health bosses with “breathtaking arrogance”. A separate letter accuses the Salford doctors’ committee of considering the lives and well-being of Salford mothers and babies as “low priority” and urges it to re-consider its decision “in the interests of safety”. |
Thought!
I wonder how much you could save by reducing the senior management wage bill in Salford Council by 10%. One solicitor goes was he replaced,?Any one filled Jill Bakers place yet,how many others will bite the dust.I bet there are a few bodies working within the council who have the Twitters sorry for the pun. What with senior Labour Councillors biting the dust there must be many worried brows in all departments.
Just been out with Cllr Martin O’Neill today in the ward and it’s still Raining.
Cllr O’Neill had been dealing with some traffic issues today,he was following up work from a site walk about. Our thanks to urban vision for dealing with the issues raised. I have to admit it’s a pleasure getting around the ward with him.this type of work is the bread and butter of the work carried out by a councillor and when you get some quick wins it makes the job worthwhile

SALFORD COUNCIL RECRUITS VOLUNTEERS FOR PUBLIC SERVICES |
|
Star date: 25th October 2010 A Salford Star Exclusive SALFORD COUNCIL TO GET VOLUNTEERS TO DELIVER PUBLIC SERVICES FOR FREE IN BIG SOCIETY? As Salford Council prepares to face 21% cuts in Government funding, Council Leader, John Merry, wrote in The Guardian last Friday “How do we prepare to minimise the loss of jobs and effect on people services?” We think we’ve found the answer. A document to be discussed by Salford Council’s Cabinet tomorrow includes a section on lining up volunteers to run public services. |
The reality is if the council were not tied into Posh brass Bands, stupid ego tripping ice rink s,papers that people use to line the cat trays, and executive support members, free mobiles, car allowances, etc etc, we would not be looking at cuts,so when the blame comes around in may 2011 remember i told you so.
I sometimes wonder if the Americans ever got passed video games before they joined the army,
I have just watched a 30 minute video of the AMERICAN forces in action. Children dead and 3 hellfire missiles used to kill 6 men. They seem to enjoy the task, what worries me is did the person who leaked this carnage think of the risk he would be putting our soldiers in. War is a shocking act but when you seem to relish the task i then wonder what you are turning in to.
