Looks like Salford Tories got a kicking today

Accused of telling porkies by one Cllr. What ever happened to respect for each other. I wonder did we have the full compliment of Councillors in attendance? Doubt it. To be honest Labour will get away with murder if the opposition can’t be bothered to turn up.

Incinerators and Bus Lanes what a surprise as the key topics. I wonder did any one request to have the Air quality tested on the two other routes commuters will be taking into Manchester and asked the residents their views. We will.

This amused me

There was some good news for local taxpayers in Walkden this month – our Council Tax bills were frozen thanks to money provided by the Conservative-led Government.

The comment came off our local Tory, what he forgets to say is they may have been frozen , but the massive cuts inflicted on this council by the Tories will rip the heart out of basic services,Jobs will be lost and people will suffer. So perhaps Mr Tory the people of this city would like to say save you miserly saving and give us back the money you have ripped off our budgets.

This is Oldham today and Salford Tommorow

Can’t you see it every side road that runs off chapel street in the future due to the short sighted views of new Labour. We are accused by Labour of being against plans that are being offered,But the reality is no one as thought about the plan in full and the effects it will have on other residents who will suffer every day for the rest of their lives. Yes i would love to see a clean alternative down chapel street but we have gridlock, people will still use there cars simply because the alternatives on offer are not fit for purpose. Planning is a long term process we have all seen salford planning at it’s best and i think we have a long2011215_121331wait..

This worries me

GPs could more than double their income to £300,000 a year under health secretary Andrew Lansley‘s plans for the NHS, according to an analysis for the Guardian – sparking calls from top doctors for the government to reverse controversial policies that would appear to reward physicians who ration care.

The revelation comes after the British Medical Association voted to scrap the “dangerous” health bill and demanded that Lansley rethink his radical pro-market changes to the NHS.

Again the Condems are going  head long into something that will be a disaster it and make your views known,

Confused

We take down a bridge that was put on site to get people across a busy main road, there seems to be  inadequate facilities to cross safely and some poor women gets hit by a car. I would have felt that as a council and all the spin i witnessed on road safety signing charters year on year we would have got the basics right. It seems to me that talk is a a lot cheaper than getting the job done. I could be wrong but don’t we have a duty of care to the residents we represent. Perhaps we may take up Cllr Merry s invite and talk to the people on that side of the city. i wonder who we are servicing in our planning the people of the city or big business?

Vote of confidence for Salford Labour leadership !!!!!!

<!–
Last Updated – 11th March 2011 at 02:33 PM –>

Officers of the Salford City Labour Party were unanimously re-elected at the body’s annual meeting on Thursday, March 10, 2011.

The City Party – officially known as the Local Government Committee – decides Labour’s manifesto, chooses candidates and runs election campaigns to win seats on Salford City Council.
It consists of delegates from the Party’s 20 branches in the city – one from each ward – as well as delegates appointed by the three Constituency Labour Party organisations.
Labour Group leader Cllr John Merry and Labour Group secretary Cllr John Warmisham are also delegates.
Officers re-elected were: Councillor David Lancaster (chairman), Councillor John Ferguson and Councillor Gina Loveday (vice-chairs), Councillor Norbert Potter (secretary), James Winterbourne (assistant secretary), Audrey Judge (treasurer

I wonder do they vote for each other ?good to see the Swinton Candidate got a place! shame there seemed to be  a lack of confidence for him to defend the Barton seat he holds!
