SALFORD COUNCIL EXPENDITURE BLACKOUT CONTINUED from the Salford Star,Question from us what have they got to hide?

RESIDENTS DENIED COUNCIL TRANSPARENCY

From December 2010, in the interests of the “government’s and the city council’s commitment to be open and transparent about its financial affairs”, Salford Council was supposed to list all its expenditure over £500 and all contracts it entered into.

However, since then only three months worth of data has ever been published on the Salford Council website – and nothing at all since February this year!

A commitment to be “open and transparent”?

Reading the Council’s “commitment to be open and transparent” is enough to make any Salford resident weep with the democracy of it all. It states clearly on Salford Council’s website…

“The city council will be providing supplier payment and procurement details on a monthly basis from January 2011. Publication of these lists forms part of the government’s and the city council’s commitment to be open and transparent about its financial affairs for all interested parties, including residents of the city.

No worries i could imagine what the list looks like.

Why do people use Manchester first and Salford last to say where they come from?

So they are just facing reality. When I am Asked where I am from I say Manchester first and then narrow it down later. Comment on the net

This issue is really getting to me at the moment,If you have not then i suggest you read the Salford Stars article on how Salford university is changing their logo we are having a little village called Manchester slapped underneath it. It seems that no as a clue where we are,and it’s to help ID us on the map. Could it be that our local Labour Council is failing to do it’s job? perhaps we could also put on Peel or Tesco and that would make it far easier for every one to find us.
