While Salford Royal (formerly Hope) Hospital aims to slash 750 jobs over the next three years as part of vicious government cuts, we can reveal that by 2013 Hazel Blears’ husband, Michael Halsall, will have been paid nearly £80,000 for attending meetings at the hospital.

THREE traders suspected of selling thousands of pounds worth of counterfeit goods were arrested during a raid on Salford Market.

Plain-clothes police questioned them after scores of uniformed and community support officers surrounded the market to stop anyone escaping. Hundreds of DVDs, CDs, computer games, trainers and branded clothing were seized from three stalls by trading standards officers – enough to fill four Transit vans.
