A great advertisement for Labours Salford from the Hindustan times, we are even highlighted by the ex Labour Leader.

Pune boy, friends walked into UK no-go area

Dipankar De Sarkar, Hindustan Times
London, December 30, 2011

Anuj Bidve, the Indian student who was killed on Boxing Day, had strayed into a neighbourhood that figured in an official list of Britain’s most dangerous ‘no-go’ areas for its sheer criminality, drugs and gun culture. Ordsall in the northern town of Salford – part of Greater Manchester

city – is a notorious crime hotspot. In 1998, it was identified by then finance minister Gordon Brown as one of “Britain’s 20 worst housing estates” that needed urgent government attention to stem growing lawlessness.

In July 1992, rioters in Ordsall shot at police and firefighters following 18 months of trouble. People familiar with the area say they wouldn’t visit it in the dead of night, as the 23-year-old and his friends did at around 1.30 a.m on December 26.

“That area is not particularly good for anyone to be walking about at that hour of day,” Brian Everall, editor of Salfordonline.com told HT. “Police tried to break up the area, but in vain.”

Most Britons steer clear of lawless areas. Bidve’s death raises questions about the kind of safety advice students get from universities. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/HTEditImages/Images/30-12-pg9a.jpg

“You get a lot of general safety advice, but no one tells you about housing estates, (violent) teenagers or knife crime,” said Sahana Bajpaie Herrett, a former student of a well-known London university. “When you first come in, your guard is lowered because you are in the First World as it were.”

Students pick up such information from local newspapers, new friends and “when your friends get mugged”, said Bajpaie Herrett.

There are 113 undergraduate and 144 postgraduate Indian students at the Lancaster University. A spokeswoman said the university is “one of the safest” in Britain. But safety advice documents issued by universities do not mention crime statistics or areas that students should avoid.

Five people have been arrested so far in the case.

Thought of the day.

In London, cuts in welfare and housing benefit will lead to a forced migration of the poor into the most deprived areas.

This brutal social engineering will have profound effects on families across the country. As many as one million people could be affected by the changes to housing benefit: children will be uprooted from schools and friends; extended patterns of family support and care will be broken; the jobs of the working poor will be threatened by longer journeys and rising travel costs. The communities receiving these migrants – those with the lowest housing costs – will be put under intense pressure just as council budgets are hacked back, job losses stack up and new house building is curtailed. So much for “community cohesion”.

Sad it seems to be Conservative policy supported fully by the Liberal Democrats. I wonder when people voted Tory did they foresee this or the fact that the Liberal Democrats fully support what in reality is a quick way to social cleanse the poor from London. A quick return to Victorian England with the poor living in hovels,i feel ashamed that i once believed the Liberal Democrats offered change, but perhaps we all make mistakes perhaps like the people who voted for these people.

God it amazes me that the Tory Press portray people who hold degrees and can’t find work through no fault of there own as work shy scroungers

frank-gallagherPeople with degrees are refusing to stack shelves working for shops like pound land and to be honest so would i. The sun portrays in one article today people as work shy scroungers like Frank from shameless,Perhaps it should be asking why are the Governments slashing job after Job,creating nil growth and running our economy into the ground, and to hide it’s failings it attacks those who can’t fight back,it did the same with single mums, the Tories never change. All the Tories are doing is creating slave Labour for companies and no real jobs or future .

Ask yourself a question how many of these firms are lapping up all this slave labour compliments of the Condems

A graduate is taking legal action against the government over a scheme which she says forces people to do unpaid work.

Cait Reilly, a University of Birmingham geology graduate, is currently trying to find work in the museum sector.

The 22-year-old said she had to work for free at a Poundland store for two weeks or risk losing her benefits.

She is seeking a judicial review. Poundland said the scheme is operated in partnership with the government.

It involves provide pre-employment training, a work placement and a guaranteed interview as a way of improving a person’s employability. Strange when the person forced to do this does not want a job stacking shelves!!

‘Positive step’

The government has said the work experience offered through the scheme is with good employers providing real opportunities for employment.

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions is due to respond to Ms Reilly’s case on 14 December.

Poundland said in a statement its work experience is designed to help people find work in the retail sector.

  • How does a job stacking shelves help a graduate find work, the Government is failing,it slashes thousands up on thousands of jobs then stigmatizes our youth work you lazy buggers or loose your benefits, there is nothing wrong with stacking shelves but how many people would like part time real jobs doing it can’t get them because of all the Tory Lib DEM slave labour!!

Just one after thought how many of these firms on the scheme are Tory backers?

Thought of the day

I wonder how many of these LABOUR hacks fighting for seats in May actually run there own businesses ? why do i ask well just think for one moment and ask your self a question.

  1. Will they be putting there complete time to the job in hand,i don’t really think they will
  2. Will we see more people actually putting pen to paper and recording the fact they can only  do certain days and not to plan meetings that will effect there work commitments which we see all ready with New Labour .

I think we will.ask the question on our leaflets,

When you vote for a Local  Councillor are you expected some one committed to the task? or just likes the sound of the name and the allowances that go with it?
