Salford City Reds have been loaned £1m by the council, we can reveal.
The rugby league club received a £350,000 loan from Salford council last year to help with day-to-day running costs.
A confidential council report, obtained by the M.E.N, shows the club has now been handed a total of £1m by the town hall.
The report also reveals that the council has agreed to pay £250,000 to buy back the lease on a car park at the Reds’ Willows ground.
The lease is currently held by the Willows Variety Centre.
The council hopes the loans will be paid back with its share of the profits from a housing development due to be built on the car park and ground.
It makes me think that you can loan on a speculative proposal and still cut your work force not very good business![]()
