He said if anyone opens the door and doesn’t tell us to P—S off we mark them down as possible Labour voters.

How about lets sit around a table and discuss the alternatives,or have we forgot what we are meant to do, make decisions on the future of this city. Protect the future of our residents and their children. I understand it’s far easier to score points but if any of the key players wish to sit round the table , drop us a line.

Having just received a mailshot through my letterbox about this development, I have taken the time to google and subsequently found this site. Sadly having read the contents, I find it to be more occupied with people jostling for political one-upmanship, than actually looking at the situation in hand.

As opposed as I am to any development of green belt land, it is an inescapable fact that the area will need new housing. However, I believe there are enough broken down trading estates and waste land in this area which can be put to use and converted to housing estates without the need to ruin what little green land we have left. Anyone with an ounce of common sense can find one or more alternative sites to the proposed one. Sadly, Politicians rarely have common sense and are more inclined to support or fight causes which will move them up the next rung on the political ladder.

From Mr Kingston at the Star one person in this city i have respect for, keep up the good work Steve.

THREE HOUSES BULLDOZED FOR EVERY ONE BUILT!

New Government figures show that for every new house built in the so-called Pathfinder areas of Salford and Manchester, three are demolished.

Meanwhile nearly 18,500 people in Salford are on the housing waiting list, and for every `social’ house that’s advertised each week there are over 50 bids.

Our photo shows a house in Suffolk Street in Charlestown being bulldozed this week, one of 184 properties currently being demolished in the NDC area at a cost of £350,000.

The total Pathfinder scheme to date in Salford and Manchester (they won’t break it down into cities) has been funded with £322million of public money. From the start of the scheme until October this year, a total of 935 new properties have been built, while 2,800 have been bulldozed. An average of over three houses bulldozed for every one built.

Meanwhile, figures released in February by Salford’s Choice Based Letting (CBL) showed that there are 18,400 people on the city’s housing register. CBL handles Salford’s social housing placements and, each week, around sixty properties are advertised and 3,089 bids are received. That’s over fifty people chasing every home available.

This hasn’t stopped the bulldozing of Salford’s affordable terrace housing which continues despite uncertain plans for new houses. In October we revealed that 184 houses in Charlestown were to be demolished – in Thursfield Street, Reading Street, Chinley Street, Wainman Street, Suffolk Street, Levens Street and part of Littleton Road – and the demolition costs of £350,000 included plans for the area to be “soiled, seeded and knee railed”… “should there be a significant gap between the completion of these enabling works, and the start of development on site”.

The bulldozers have now moved in as more of Salford’s heritage and potentially affordable housing is wiped from the map…

Credit crunch hits plans for new courts

Plans for new magistrates’ courts in Salford and Bolton have been scraped because of the recession.Well how does this sit with the regeneration of Eccles? like many parts of our city i felt this would help many of the shops and create jobs, i don’t now the full facts yet but i look forward to the answers with anticipation.

Well i have known Noman for over six years ,and i have to say it’s the best thing to happen to this party him giving up work to take up his role full time. He is like a terrier at the moment organising and taking up his battle with Blears with more passion than i have ever seen.i have a battle of my own at the moment but i hope to be an active part of his team over the coming months.What as impressed me is some of the candidates who wish to stand, In 2010 i believe we have a chance for growth many of the people i have been talking to today are fed up with labour offering us a chance to fight it out with the Tories. It looks like the Market is open and i hope we can pick up our share of the votes.

Sorted the City west case work, Met with Mark from City west last week and today most of the issues are being sorted.What ever your views are and it’s taken some they Listen and respond.
