I became Leader of the Council in May 2003 and embarked upon an ambitious programme to revolutionise the way in which the City Council delivers services.
SALFORD WORKERS SUPPORT UNION STRIKES
Star date: June 30th 2011
5000 SALFORD AND MANCHESTER PEOPLE MARCH AGAINST GOVERNMENT…
`1-2-3-4 We won’t pay a penny more
Five thousand people from Salford and Manchester marched against the ConDem Government today, as strikes against the cuts in workers’ conditions shut schools, court rooms and tax offices.
The march, from All Saints to Castlefield concluded with a huge rally where NUT National executive member, Helen Andrews accused David Cameron of being a `bully’, a `liar’ and a `thief’. Teacher always knows best!
380 homes in the last year,
Question what help have the Labour Council given to those effected?
Is this putting a strain on Council homes being available to people waiting on the list for excessive time scales.
Does this have any thing to do with the Condem cuts and forced Job Losses?
A hostel that shelters up to 40 vulnerable men each night faces closure under a Salford council review of funding for the homeless.
Lancaster House on Lancaster Road in Claremont is run by charity Positive Lifestyles and has an average occupancy of 93 per cent.
It costs £238,000 a year to run the facility, which is currently funded through three grants from Supporting People – a government initiative.
But this is under threat as part of a review of services for vulnerable and homeless people.
If funding is withdrawn, bosses say it will close on September 30 with the loss of 14 jobs.
The hostel acts as a training and resettlement centre, offering job seeking advice, training and counselling
Same goes for Governments
