£2,000 PAY RISES FOR DEPUTY MAYORS
In a very strange case of political spin doctoring, Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett, today claims that “My two deputies will…be taking a £2,000 pay cut each…In a time of austerity the Labour Party in Salford do not think it is appropriate for political leaders to be increasing their salaries.”
In fact, according to the Council’s own report, and confirmed by Deputy Mayor John Merry, the deputies are actually receiving a £2,000 pay rise on the £30,000 they have been getting this year.
