Will the council be prepared if a situation of no overall control appears in 2010

It looks unlikely but who knows if we see us in the position of no overall control. I would hope the council are in the position of acted swiftly. What format do the readers see for the council. If The Labour vote was to collapse which i find highly unlikely who will hold the balance of power?i suppose what ever the outcome the independent and smaller parties within council could have at last a chance to impart policy.

  1. What you’re suggesting could just as easily happen on a national scale after the next general election.

We are all going to have to set aside our differences and learn to work together – if we do not, we could end up with a situation like Holland experienced in 2006, where a coalition couldn’t work together and the country effectively had no government for 6 months.

Locally or nationally, that would be disastrous!

    1. Your right steve, what concerns me is how the national situation will effect us locally. We are to small to control the council but big enough to act in it’s control. How and with who?i don’t no i dispise Tory policies and doctrine. i could never work or in reality line myself with any tory administartion.

  2. I would be the last person to suggest that we Lib Dems become Tory v2.0, but harking back to your original post – we will need to find area of common ground with them on some issues if the council is to function.

It will also require us to work with Labour in the same manner – and you know my thoughts on Labour policies and their cavalier attitude towards the people they are supposed to represent.

They will have to learn to listen!

    1. I think my view on the tories could only be sumed up with their actions at the last council where they voted against us in relation to Johns scrutiny plave.I reality they only think of their selves. I cannot speak for the group but i have made my views open and honest.

  3. You are right, that they do only think of themselves – the whole process over John’s scrutiny place was shameful.

Labour gloating over the whole process just proved how childish they can be, but, I still believe that we might need to bite our tongues on occasion – otherwise how will we govern?

    1. I don’t know steve but what ever happens i don’t want them thinking we dance to there tunes. But if we look at it another way and we have a massive raise in our fortunes we could and should be in the driving seat.
