Second spot in the Irwell Riverside By election

Steveblog  I would like to say what a great campaign Steve Middleton as put together in such a short space of time. It as been a pleasure to work with him and his wife. I feel he would have made an excellent candidate for the people of Irwell riverside, sadly that was not to be. I stated a few weeks ago that if Steve missed out this time round he would be more prepared to mount a full on campaign in langworthy where we all ready have a sitting candidate. He lives in the ward and would be fully updated with the issues. Losing is not a great feeling after the intense amount of effort you put in, but it gives you the will to come out fighting next time round.Plus you have the experience. After the disaster we had in Pendlebury i was pleased we held second place. but the turnout was a poor i estimate around 17%. The Sad part of the night was the Return of Hazel lapping up the cameras, shame she forgot about the young Labour Candidate who had just won. I offer my congratulations to him,and hope he will enjoy the position as much as i have done during the past three years. Tomorow i hope to speak with our leader to discuss the coming campaigns that will be on us sooner than later,so again well done to Steve and the Liberal Dem team.
